The city of Sydney is the largest and oldest city in Australia. It is known as one of the most beautiful and livable places in the world. It is also among the most advanced port cities in that side of the hemisphere. Most of the best art, fashion, cuisine, and design of Australia are featured there. Sydney is also located in one of the most beautiful coastlines of the continent with beautiful beaches and wonderful harbor locations.
One of the most famous landmarks found in Sydney is the Sydney Opera house. It is among the most famous structures built in Australia and it is an iconic figure that symbolizes the nation and the advances that Australia has made in the past quarter century. Situated in Bennelong Point in Sydney harbor, it was built 1973 by Danish Architect Jorn Utzon. Because of the opera house, Utzon won architecture’s highest honor, the Pritzker Prize, in 2003.
Another famous landmark found in Sydney is the Sydney Harbor Bridge. This steel through arch bridge connects the Sydney central business district and the Northern shore. It carries thousands of commuters every day including pedestrians, bicycles, cars, and a rail. The lighted view of the bridge, with the Sydney harbor at its background, has become one of the signature images of Sydney and Australia.
Sydney Olympic Park is also among the most recognizable landmarks in Sydney. The park is located in New South Wales, and it was built and developed just in time for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The facilities in the park are still being used to this day for sporting and cultural events. Events such as the Sydney Royal Easter Show and the Sydney Festival are held still being held at the Olympic park.
Another landmark in Australia is Luna Park, a large theme park found near the harbor bridge. It is known for its entrance, which is shaped like the mouth of a clown, the large Ferris wheel and a roller coaster located inside the park. The park has been open since 1935 and has been closed and reopened several times since then. It is among the longest running theme parks in all of Australia.
Another landmark found is Australia is the Sydney Tower. The Tower, also called the Centerpoint Tower and the AMP tower, is also the tallest structure in Sydney. The tower features several shops and eateries including a café, a buffet, and a large restaurant. The tower is among the top tourist attractions found in that area of Sydney.
